If you are serious about your poker game, training apps are a great way to study on the go. With so many apps out there, you may be unsure which one is best for you. In this article we go over some of the most popular training apps so you can find the right fit.

There are a lot of poker training apps on the market, and many of them are not worth your time. We have used all of the most popular ones and compiled a list of what we consider the best of the best. If you are looking for an app for your phone or tablet so you can study on the go, you will find something that suits you below.

DTO Poker: GTO Multi-Table Tournament Trainer

The best app for studying postflop tournament GTO play is the DTO Poker trainer. Created by poker pro Dominik Nitsche and Markus Prinz, DTO is a great way to study GTO spots on the go.

DTO Poker is free to use, but to get the most out of it we recommend one of the paid plans. When we last checked, it offered more than 60 postflop spots to study. You play through hands and get instant feedback on how you played them. DTO also shows you the optimal frequency for each action, along with the EV of each action, so you can see how big a mistake you made. One standout feature is the leaderboard, where you can compete against some of the best pros in the game who use DTO themselves. It makes it easy to play a spot and then compare your results with other DTO users.

There are a couple of other postflop training apps on the market, but we think DTO is the best. If you are serious about improving your postflop tournament play, you can't go wrong with DTO Poker.

Besides the free tier, DTO listed three paid tiers ranging from $9.99 to $99.99 per month when we last checked, with discounts on semi-annual and annual plans. For current details, see DTO Poker's pricing page.

The Preflop Advantage

Playing solid preflop ranges is one of the most important things you can do in a poker hand. When you don't, you often end up in difficult spots postflop because your range is too wide, and good players can exploit that. The Preflop Advantage by Poker Masterminds is a great app for studying GTO preflop ranges, with editions for both cash games and tournaments. The apps are built to be easy to navigate, including while you play (always check your room's rules on whether charts are allowed).

The Preflop Advantage for Tournaments

If you are a tournament player, this is the app for you. It has more than 1,500 preflop ranges for a variety of scenarios, including:

  • Open raising / raise first in
  • Flatting / 3-betting
  • Multi-way
  • Rejamming
  • Calling rejams
  • Push / fold
  • Calling a push
  • Heads-up
  • Advanced limping

Each scenario covers stack sizes from 10bb to 100bb, so you will never be left guessing in a given spot.

The Preflop Advantage for Cash Games

For cash game players, the Cash Edition is the one to get. The ranges are exact GTO outputs rounded to 10% for easy implementation, and they cover just about every preflop situation you are likely to face, including:

  • Open raising / raise first in
  • vs 3-bet
  • vs raise first in
  • vs 4-bet
  • Squeeze
  • Cold 4-bet
  • Heads-up

Each scenario includes ranges for 40bb, 60bb, 100bb and 150bb stacks. If you play 6-max cash games, this app will help you win more by playing GTO preflop ranges.

SnapShove

If you have played poker for any length of time, you may already know SnapShove. Created by professional player Max Silver, SnapShove gives you Nash equilibrium ranges for short-stacked tournament play.

SnapShove is a user-friendly, interactive push/fold chart. You choose inputs such as ante size, number of players, stack size and position, and it instantly tells you which hands to push, which hands to call a push with, and which hands to rejam. It also has a handy training module for practice.

SnapShove is available on iOS and Android, and there is also a web version. There is a free version and a Pro version. When we last checked, the free version had in-app purchases from $3.49 to $44.99, and the Pro version was listed at $54.99 to $69.99.

PokerCruncher

PokerCruncher is an advanced odds and equity calculator with features that go well beyond a standard calculator, including:

  • Support for up to 10 players
  • Specific hands, ranges or random hands as inputs
  • Equity, win and tie percentages
  • Dead cards
  • Number of combos in a range
  • Heat maps
  • Built-in ranges
  • Saving your own ranges
  • Made hands in a range
  • Plus much more

If you want to break down ranges and see how they interact on specific boards, PokerCruncher is a great app for it.

It's available on iOS and Android, and there is also a Mac version with additional expert-level features. There is a free version with limited options and a paid version. When we last checked, the paid version was listed at $12.99 to $17.99, and once you buy it you own it for life.
